History

Leam Lane Chess Club was founded in 1974. It since its early years has always been based at the Leam Lane Working Mens Club. It may be the only chess club in the North East region to have always been at the same venue. It is also the only chess club in the region and perhaps in all of England which prints its own scoresheets with the club name proudly displayed at the heading. Furthermore, it is the only North East club which has had a Grandmaster and an International Master playing for its team.

NORTHUMBERLAND LEAGUE

The club has an outstanding record in the Northumberland league. Its top team Leam Lane Aces have been league champions numerous times during the last decade.
